Preparation and Usage
Directions for use Please read these instructions carefully and in full before using. How to light We recommend you light the lumpwood charcoal with Lightning Fluid Gel or Firelighters Cubes and follow the instructions on the pack. Using Lighting Fluid or Gel Pile the charcoal in a pyramid shape, cover generously with fluid or gel & after approximately 1 minute, light with a long match or taper. Using Cubes Place 2 or 3 cubes in the barbecue bowl or on the charcoal grid if supplied. Pile the charcoal over the cubes, ensuring sufficient air space to allow to burn with a flame. Light the cubes with a match or taper. After approximately 20 minutes the charcoal will be covered in fine grey ash. Carefully spread the charcoal across the barbecue and you are now ready to cook.

Brand Marketing
In 2009, Co-op, through our partnership with Traidcarft, launched the UK's first Fair Trade charcoal, to support charcoal burners and workers in Namibia. Through our partnership we have since raised hundreds of thousands of pounds to fund projects that benefit charcoal workers and their communities. Making charcoal is hard work. Every day, workers who burn the charoal must carry large bundles of chopped wood over long distances to the kilns. Thanks to the Fair Trade program, workers can now carry their wood in wheelbarrows, reducing the number of journeys and easing some of the burden. 'We really appreciate the wheelbarrows. It has made our work a lot easier, and we can now carry a lot of wood at once. Before, we had to carry bags of wood over our shoulders", Simon Imanuel, charcoal burner. The money raised through Fair Trade has also been used to install solar charging points at the farm camps. This means workers can now recharge their electronic devices and keep in touch with their famillies while they are away working. "Before we had the solar panels, the only option was to buy separate charging packs, which most of us could not afford. We really enjoyed receiving and being able to use the charging stations." Simon Imanuel. By choosing Fair Trade, your're helping to make a difference.
