Recipes
Rich beef lasagne Serves 4 Ingredients 1 onion, finely chopped 2 garlic cloves, crushed 500g minced beef 2 tbsp tomato puree 400g can of chopped tomatoes 125ml red wine 2 tbsp fresh basil, roughly chopped 125g mushrooms, sliced 250g lasagne sheets 750ml white lasagne sauce 50g grated Parmesan cheese Method 1. Preheat the oven to 180°C, 350°F, gas mark 4. 2. Heat 1tbsp of oil in a large frying pan 3. Gently fry the onion until soft, stir in the garlic and cook for a further 3-4 minutes. 3. Add the mince and fry until the meat browns. Stir in the tomato purée, chopped tomatoes and wine and bring to the boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 15 minutes, add the basil and mushrooms and season to taste. 4. To assemble the lasagne, rub a 18cm x 23cm oven proof dish with a little oil. Spread about a quarter of the meat sauce over the base of the prepared dish. Cover this with one fifth of the white sauce, then arrange a single layer of the lasagne over the top. Repeat this process, finishing with a final layer of white sauce. 5. Sprinkle over the Parmesan. Bake for 35 - 40 minutes.
