Preparation and Usage
Cooking Guidelines All appliances vary, the following are guidelines only. For microwaves of different outputs adjust cooking time accordingly. If using a fan assisted oven, please refer to the manufacturer's instructions. Always ensure that the food is cooked throughout before serving. Roast Gas Mark 6/200°C/400°F for 40-50 minutes Peel the potatoes and cut into even pieces. Place in a saucepan and cover with cold water, bring to the boil and simmer for 8-10 minutes. Whilst the potatoes are cooking, place a roasting tin with 2-3 tablespoons (45ml) of sunflower oil into a preheated oven at Gas Mark 6/200C/400ºF. Drain the potatoes, place the lid back on the saucepan, then holding the lid firmly shake the saucepan vigorously to roughen the cooked edges of the potatoes. Remove the roasting tin from the oven and carefully tip the potatoes into the hot oil. Warning: take care not to splash the hot oil when transferring the potatoes to the roasting tin. Baste potatoes to completely coat with hot oil and return to the top shelf of the oven for 40-50 minutes turning once during cooking. Boil/Simmer for 15-25 minutes Peel the potatoes and cut into even pieces. Place in a saucepan and cover with cold water. Bring to the boil, lower the heat, cover and simmer for 15-25 minutes, or until tender. Drain and serve. Oven Bake Gas Mark 6/200°C/400°F for 50-80 minutes Wash the potato, dry and prick several times with a fork. Bake in a preheated oven at Gas Mark 6/200°C/400°F for 50-80 minutes or until tender. Turn over halfway through cooking. Deep Fry in hot oil at 180°C for 6-7 minutes Peel the potatoes and cut into chips. Rinse under running water in order to remove excess starch and then dry. Fry in hot 180°C for 6-7 minutes until golden colour. Drain on absorbent paper and serve. Microwave 800W for 7-9 minutes Wash the potato, dry and prick several times with a fork. Wrap loosely with kitchen paper. For a single medium sized potato, microwave on full power for 7-9 minutes. Turn over halfway through cooking. Allow to stand for 2 minutes. If cooking more than one potato increase the cooking time.
