Recipe Suggestion Kabli Chana Tarka Dall Chick peas cooked with red lentils in a spicy garlicky sauce topped with crispy fried onions (tarka). Vegan. Serves 4 100g White Pearl Chick Peas 225g White Pearl Massoor Dall 4 tablespoons oil 1 teaspoon White Pearl Cumin Powder 1/2 teaspoon White Pearl Turmeric Powder 1 1/2 tablespoons White Pearl Curry Powder 6 garlic cloves, finely chopped 175g onion tarka 2 teaspoons White Pearl Garam Masala Aromatic salt to taste Soak chick peas overnight to allow them to swell and soften. Strain and rinse well. Boil at least 1.2 litres water. Add the chickpeas and simmer for 45 minutes. Rinse the lentils several times, drain and immerse in ample water for 30 minutes. Strain and rinse them, then measure an amount of water twice the volume of the drained lentils into a 2.25 litre saucepan. Bring to the boil. Put in the lentils and simmer for 30 minutes, stirring as the water is absorbed. The texture should be pourable, not too thick and too thin. During this, heat the oil in a karahi, and stir-fry the seeds and White Pearl Turmeric for about 30 seconds. Add the garlic and continue to stir-fry for a further minute. Add most of the tarka and the masala paste, and when simmering, turn off the heat. When the lentils are cooked, add the stir-fry, garam masala and salt to taste. Garnish with the remaining tarka. Serve with White Pearl Basmati rice and Chapatti's made from White Pearl Chapatti Flour.
