Sales of this wine have supported a range of social projects in South Africa, including the construction of a major new community centre which will benefit hundreds of farm workers and their families. Together we are changing lives. Every bottle (or box) of Fairtrade wine supports the wine producers and their families as they earn the Fairtrade Premium to spend on projects in their community as they choose. Since 2005 Co-op customers have supported wine grower communities by raising millions of pounds in Fairtrade Premium through buying Fairtrade wine. The funds can make a real difference, below are just some of the projects the community have managed so fat. Together Co-op customers and Fairtrade producers are changing lives. In the remote village of Tilimuqui, Argentina the wine workers invested in their first Fairtrade Premium project to provide access to clean water for the community with a 180m deep well. The second major achievement in Tilimuqui, was workers investing the Fairtrade Premium in the building of a major new secondary school which now houses approximately 600 children. Many of whom would otherwise not have had an education. The Fairtrade Premium has also been invested in the construction of a major new health centre in Tilimuqui. When complete, it will provide access to healthcare for thousands of residents, many of whom struggle to get their basic health needs met. Fairtrade Premium earned by our children producer partner in Sagrada Familia has supported students through higher education through bursaries and there has also been investment in the local school and library. In South Africa, our producer partner Lutzville has used the Fairtrade Premium to buy equipment for local schoolchidren, to provide transport facilities for the local community and has opened up a small health clinic for farm workers.
