Preparation and Usage

Place bag onto the barbecue and light Directions for use Please Read These Instructions Carefully and in Full Before Using. Do not empty charcoal out of the bag. Always place your barbecue on a flat, firm, non-flammable heat resistant surface. Hold a lit match against the corner of the bag. After about 10 minutes separate the coals. Depending on the wind conditions it can take approximately 20 minutes for the flames to die down. Do not cook until the flames die down and the charcoal has a coating of ash.

Traidcraft - Pioneering Fair Trade In 2009, Co-op, through our partnership with Traidcraft, launched the UK's first Fair Trade charcoal, to support charcoal burners and workers in Namibia. Through our partnership we have since raised hundreds of thousands of pounds to fund projects that benefit charcoal workers and their communities. Making charcoal is hard, tiring work and a good night's rest is essential for workers at the charcoal farm camps. On two Fair Trade farms, workers now have much-needed beds with comfortable mattresses and mosquito nets. "l used to sleep on a bed made of sticks. Now I sleep on a bed with a mattress, which is more than OK- it is comfortable!" Simon Munonga, Jumbo charcoal producer. The money raised through the Fair Trade scheme has also been used to build a shaded waiting area at the community's local hospital, providing patients and staff with welcome shelter from the hot sun.
