Shortcrust pastry - perfect for pies Ingredients - 225g McDougalls Plain Flour - 100g Cold Butter (cubed) - Pinch of Salt - 2-3 tbsp Water Directions 1 For the best results make sure your butter is cold. Put the cold butter, salt and flour into a large bowl and rub in with your fingertips until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. 2 Add 2-3 tbsp water and mix to a firm dough. Don't over mix the pastry, as this will create a tough texture. 3 Knead the dough on a floured surface. Wrap in cling film and chill while preparing your filling. 4 Bake as required. Makes 12 Servings Prep time: 30 mins Top tip For a perfect, crisp pastry case, place in the fridge for 30 minutes prior to baking blind. Chilling will reduce shrinkage and provide a flakier texture. Why Not Try Our delicious Crumble Topping recipe. 300g McDougalls Plain Flour, 200g cold cubed butter, 175g light brown sugar. Rub the butter into the flour and sugar until it resembles breadcrumbs.
